In this introductory class, you will learn how to make a traditional hand-hooked rug using wool strips or yarn. The instructor will demonstrate the technique and discuss the various materials you can use and the variety of finished products you can create. The class fee includes all materials required to create a 12"x12" hooked mat. You may choose to use an available beginner pattern, or create one of your own. You will select the wool from a wide variety of colors and patterns to make this mat your very own creation. You will practice the technique during the first class and during the second class, you will receive one-on-one instruction to improve your technique. The instructor will also present various finishing techniques and show the use of alternate fabrics and yarns.
The class fee includes the foundation linen, pattern, and wool strips and/or yarn. Students are asked to bring a 12" embroidery hoop, small scissors and any rug hooking frames/hooks they may have. The instructor will have hooks available to borrow. Each rug hooker prefers a different style and size of hook, and the instructor will assist each student to select a preferred hook to purchase from on-line resources, if desired. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
