In mid-March 2020, as schools and businesses closed in hope of “flattening the curve” of COVID-19, many of us began “sheltering in place” - staying home to keep ourselves and others safe. We heard people saying “When I make it through this…” and we realized that many of our followers were literally “making” it through - first sewing masks, then turning to creating quilts and other textiles to cope with and express their emotions and concerns during this challenging time. From April 13, 2020 to July 15, 2020, we invited people to submit photos of what they created during this time with what they had at home. Please enjoy these photos and the accompanying stories - we promise you will be inspired! We will also exhibit many of these creations in the museum September 30th - December 18, 2021.
