Surface Design 101

Do you want to learn new creative techniques so you can vary your quilts? Surface design is just one of the many tools you can have in your toolbox of quilting techniques. What is surface design? Surface design is any technique that manipulates or changes the surface of a fabric. This would include: painting, dyeing, printing/stamping, stenciling, applying resists, stitching, embellishing (e.g. adding beads), collaging,  etc.

SQTM will host the workshop offered by the West GA Quilters Guild. Sarah Duffey, one of our West GA Quilters Guild members will lead the workshop. Students will experience painting on fabric and watch demonstrations on dyeing fabric. The workshop from 9:00 am-12:00 costs $45. This includes paint, brushes and a yard of prepared for dyeing cotton fabric. You can sign up for the class by calling the museum. Deadline for signing up is Feb. 21.
