Christmas Textiles Workshop

Museum offers “Christmas Textiles” workshop

Christmas is just around the corner and it is time to think about making special gifts.  The Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum will offer a workshop on November 4 from 9-3 to help you get started.  The workshop will be held at the Museum on Bradley Street.

Participants will have an opportunity to make three projects.  Norma West will demonstrate making holiday placemats using the “quilt-as-you- go” technique.  This technique provides an opportunity to make table mats for that special holiday meal in one easy step. Jeanette Bernhardt will demonstrate the use of an Accuquilt cutter to cut and make felt holiday ornaments, mug rugs and/or candle mats.  The Accuquilt cutter has dies (patterns) to cut precise snowflakes, trees, and other shapes for holiday projects.  Felt projects are easy to complete using glue or hand stitching for finishing.  Diane McLarty will demonstrate making a Christmas tree ornament made of fabric and embellished with buttons.  Participants may choose any or all the projects to work on during the day and supplies for projects are included in the price of the workshop.

Call 770-301-2187 or go by the Museum to register for this class, the cost is $60 including all supplies needed.  Bring a lunch or take a break and have lunch on the Square.  The Museum is open from 10-4 on Thursday – Saturday.  This workshop is open to all ages but participants must have basic hand sewing skills as well as basic machine sewing skills.
